Shooting nearly 100 year old weapons

So, as of last night I was reminded why we don't use very old weapons like they are new. While practicing with my Model 97 winchester I started getting some double feeds, which at first I thought was me short stroking the pump. The issue was nearly every time I worked the action I had a double feed... upon further inspection I found that one of my magazine retainer springs had went weak... so I am now on the hunt to replace springs and other sensitive parts. oh well, if simply a reminder for some Be easy on WWI era weapons, those parts went out in only 800 rounds... granted most of those were full power loads and I have no idea the round count my great grandfather put through it.... its still a good idea to be gentle on "antique" weapons. because now I will be shelling out some cash for parts that are increasingly hard to find.
