When most people think of Glock they think of that black boxy pistol that it seems everybody and their brother carries. Its no secret within the gun community that there tends to be more people with Glock variants than many other singular types of weapons. In fact It wouldn't be totally far fetched to say that Glock Is the standard in the EDC market. This can be proven by the fact that nearly every gun store in America has at least one display case with Glocks in it, Magazines behind the counter (YMMV), and is at least versed enough in the product line that they can diagnose most common issues there in store.
Realistically you would have to live under a rock, or be very new to the Gun community to have not handled a Glock. As such many of the people who carry Glocks (plural) like myself do so because there is very little difference between the manual of arms for each weapon. Very few companies have weapons that are in multiple calibers and handle exactly the same. Granted Other companies have made a push to do so with weapons like the XD, M&P, PX4, FNX, etc. this has been acheived largely by moving to the polymer frames and in a few of these models a striker fired weapon. This is showing that the competition is Listening to their base.
As such many of these companies have been working on their Concealed Carry weapons. Namely with the release of weapons like the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield with its jump into the limelight. It seems like within just a few years It has established itself as a staple in the CCW marketplace. Soon to follow was Beretta and Even Springfield with the XDS. This has caused a stir among Glock Carriers mainly due to the already harsh criticism that the G26 was too thick in the slide for most users tastes. Glock soon addressed that with the G36 but as such this was only really to appeal to the small number of users who wanted a single stack .45 with a thinner slide. Even Still after the Glock 36 Users still wanted a better CCW option in 9mm and have since asked for newer designs typically a single stack 9mm/.40cal/10mm. In typical Glock Fashion at the 2013 Shot Show They announced something that nobody was asking for... the G30S which was almost literally putting a G36 slide on a G30SF.... As our favorite Grandfather gunner Hickok 45 illustrates
Is .380 a little anemic? Yes In my oppinion... but Its still kind of cool!! I will most likely end up with one... more when we can actually find them
